🏈 Coaches FAQ
Welcome to the team! Below are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions to help you feel confident and ready for the season.
When do practices start and what days are they?
Practices begin the week prior to games and are held once per week on your assigned day (varies by location). Practice times are typically within the 5:00–7:00 PM window. Your exact time and field space will be communicated before the season begins.
When are game days?
Games are played once per week on a separate day from practice (typically Fridays). Full schedules will be shared prior to Week 1.
When do we receive uniforms?
Uniforms are typically distributed during the first week of games. Coaches will be notified when they are ready for pickup and distribution.
When do families receive extra gear they purchased (gloves, etc.)?
Additional gear ordered during registration is distributed along with uniforms. If items are delayed, we will communicate updates directly.
What if a player is missing a uniform or gear item?
Please notify league staff immediately. We will work quickly to resolve the issue and provide a temporary solution if needed.
What if a uniform doesn’t fit?
Have the player wear the uniform to the next event and notify us. We will coordinate a size exchange as inventory allows.
Do coaches need to complete a background check?
Yes. All coaches are required to:
Pass a background check
Complete Heads Up Concussion Training
Review and agree to our Coach Commitment & Policies
These must be completed before stepping on the field.
How should coaches communicate with their teams?
Initial contact should be made via text, call, or email. After that, all ongoing communication will be through the Stack Team App, which is our official communication platform.
What if I can’t make a practice or game?
Please:
Notify your team as early as possible
Assign a temporary substitute coach (assistant, parent, or trusted adult)
Inform league staff if you need help finding coverage
Consistency is key, but we understand things come up!
What if a player gets hurt?
Stop play immediately
Assess the situation
Notify the parent/guardian right away
For serious injuries, seek medical attention and alert league staff
All injuries should be taken seriously—player safety is our top priority.
How should I handle disagreements with referees?
Always remain calm and respectful
Officials’ decisions are final during gameplay
If needed, report concerns to league staff after the game
We model sportsmanship for our players—how we respond matters.
What equipment do coaches receive?
Each coach receives:
Practice flags (to be returned once uniforms arrive)
Game balls (bring one to every game)
Cones and basic practice equipment
What are players required to wear?
Players must have:
Rubber cleats (no metal)
Mouthguard (required)
No pockets on shorts/pants (must be taped if present)
Jersey tucked in during games
What if parents have concerns or complaints?
Encourage parents to follow the chain of communication:
Parent → Coach → League Staff
Most issues can be resolved quickly with clear and respectful communication.
Do I need to plan practices?
We provide resources and guidance, but you are encouraged to:
Keep practices fun and engaging
Focus on fundamentals and teamwork
Ensure equal participation for all players
Can I request specific players or build my own team?
To keep the league fair and balanced, teams are created by the league. Special requests may be considered but are not guaranteed.
What is the time commitment for coaching?
Coaching typically requires:
1 practice per week (1 hour)
1 game per week (about 1 hour)
That’s it—about 2 hours per week to make a huge impact!
