📅 When does the season start and end?

Seasons typically run about 10 weeks in length from start to finish. Fall seasons run Sept-Nov, Winter seasons run Dec-Feb (when offered), and Spring seasons run March-May. We also will offer summer camps in July. Please see our season flyers in social media on our homepage for the current season specifics.

👧🧒 What ages can participate?

We offer flag football co-ed divisions for boys and girls with hopes to grow to offer a girls only division in the near future from ages 4 to 17 (Pre-K through 12th grade), separated by age group/grade to keep competition fair and fun.

💸 How much does it cost?

👕 What’s included in registration?

Your registration includes:

• Official NFL FLAG reversible jersey

• Official NFL FLAG shorts

• NFL FLAG belt and flags

• 6–8 game season + playoffs (where applicable, based on registration numbers)

• Certified referees and background-checked coaches

• Super Bowl for each age bracket (for applicable seasons, based on registration numbers)

🧒 Who do we play against?

This is a local community league and teams will play against one-another from their same age division here in town. Rosters are typically 6-9 players in size and our goal is to field at least 3 teams per age division for each season to make it fun and competitive. In the instance that this does not happen, based on registrations, we will modify game-play for that season such as playing 4v4, or inter—league game options with our sister leagues in near-by cities with similar demographics. You will be notified if this is the case BEFORE the season begins as we understand it may not make sense for your family to travel to near-by cities as you have planned for only local games. We do not foresee this being a problem though!

👕 When do we get our uniforms or extra merchandise that we ordered when we signed up?

All merchandise orders will arrive with uniforms and will be handed out by coaches the week prior to your first scheduled game. We do not accept merchandise orders after initial registrations. If you find that you have issues with your uniform or merchandise order, please let your coach know within 24 hours of uniform hand out.

🙌 Are we required to get sponsors or participate in fundraising?

At VC NFL Flag Football we believe your time should be spent cheering on your athlete—not selling candy bars or hitting up your relatives for donations. We do not require any type of sponsorships but plan to partner with local businesses and organizations for support to help bring down registration costs for families and provide equipment etc each season.

  While we do offer optional sponsorship opportunities (like our Victory Fund) to support other families in need, there is zero pressure or obligation to participate.

📍 Where are practices and games held?

All practices and games take place locally in Valley Center, CA. Our field may fluctuate seasonally based on availability and lighting but always here in town!

📆 When are practices and games?

Teams practice once a week (after the first 2 weeks) with games once weekly beginning week 2 of the season. Specific days of the week may vary each season so please check our social media for the latest updates. Younger children typically have earlier times.

📱 When will I hear from my child’s coach?

Rosters are not set until registration closes, typically 2 weeks prior to practices beginning for the season. Once rosters are set, coaches will be notified, and are asked to contact their teams within 24 hours of getting their rosters. We use the Stack Team App for in-season communication but your child’s coach should reach out to you via email or text message for the initial communication within 1 week of the first practice to introduce themselves and give you necessary details. 📣 Can I request a coach, teammate, or siblings?

Yes! We do our best to honor buddy and coach requests made during registration, but they are not guaranteed due to team balance needs. We also aim to accommodate families as our goal is to preserve family time and keep youth sports as a positive experience for families with multiple children. Please email us after registration with any unique special requests and we will do our very best to honor those. For siblings, if they fall in the same age bracket, we can absolutely can honor those requests. For siblings that fall in different age brackets, we can sometimes allow a younger sibling to play up by one division higher than their current age. We do not allow players to play down divisions for safety reasons.

🙌 Can I bring a whole team to coach for the season?

We understand many of you may have played for other flag football leagues than operate under their own unique set of rules, however here at VC NFL Flag, for our recreational division, we do not allow whole teams to join us as it does not create a fair playing field for all teams. However you can submit buddy requests and coach requests and do our best to honor many of these, while still maintaining the integrity of the league to keep the experience positive for everyone.

In the Fall of 2026 we plan to launch our competitive division, and in this division we will allow entire team recruits! Stay tuned for details.

🤝 How can I volunteer?

We love our parent volunteers! You can sign up during registration or on our website to coach, assist, be a team manager, or help with events. All volunteers must pass a background check. Click the Registration link to sign up today!​

🤝 I signed up to volunteer, when will I hear from the league?

First and foremost, THANK YOU for stepping up to coach a group kids in your community this season! Head coaches receive 1 free registration for that season, and custom discount codes will get emailed to you once we process our volunteers in the system. Typically this will be within 4 weeks of the season beginning. No need to worry, there will be space for your child on your team to still register once we get you the codes. Within 2 weeks of the season beginning, you will receive a separate email for your background check as well, along with an email containing important information you will need to prepare for the season including our Coaches Manual. Rosters will be sent out to you 1 week prior to the first practice date so you can contact your team and assistant coaches, and team managers directly. If you signed up as an assistant coach or team manager, you will hear from your team’s head coach at least 1 week prior to the first practice, once they receive the final roster.

🏆 Do all kids get to play?

Yes! VC NFL Flag believes in equal playing time and creating a positive experience for all kids—regardless of skill level. For recreational divisions, all players will play a minimum of 2 quarters each game.

🏈 Is this league competitive?

Our focus is on fun, fundamentals, and character development. While we have playoffs and championships for all divisions, we ensure all players learn the game, build confidence, and enjoy the journey. As the league grows, we will introduce a Competitive Division and give them additional opportunities to compete and develop in the sport. We intend to launch a Competitive division in the Fall 2026 season where teams can practice more than once a week, and games will be played against our sister leagues in Ramona and Fallbrook as well as Valley Center. 📆 I registered my child but why haven’t I heard from anyone?

Once you have completed registration, you are now in the system. Once we close registration for the upcoming season, we finalize rosters based on all the registrations in the system and then share them with the coaches directly who will then contact you personally. This typically happens 1 week prior to the first practice. You can review the questions here to see what equipment and supplies your child will need to prepare accordingly, and then review the season flyers on our social media which will have all dates listed so you know what to expect. In the instance that you still have questions, you can email us anytime!

No problem—just let your coach know ahead of time so they can plan accordingly.

🙌 What to Expect on Game Day🏈

Game day is where the magic happens! Here’s what families can look forward to each Saturday:

🕗 Arrival Time

Typically, coaches will have players arrive 20–30 minutes before your scheduled game. This gives your athlete time to warm up, check in with their coach, and get mentally ready to play! Your coach will communicate this with you.

👕 What to Wear

• Football players must wear their NFL FLAG jersey, uniform shorts provided by the league, and cleats or athletic shoes. We recommend rubber cleats as the kids will slip around if the fields are wet. No metal cleats allowed. Mouth guard must be worn for all games and can be purchased in our shop. Soft-Shell helmets are optional.

• Bring plenty of water!

📣 Game Flow

• Games are 40-48 minutes (2 halves, running clock).

• Each team will rotate through offense and defense.

• Referees will guide the game and help players learn rules.

• Coaches will encourage teamwork and character development throughout.

💥 Sideline Vibes

Parents and fans are encouraged to:

• Bring chairs as we do not have seating.

• Cheer positively! 🎉

• Keep the sidelines clear of players and coaches.

• Celebrate effort and sportsmanship over wins and losses.

• Have fun and model great behavior—kids are watching!

🧃 Snacks & Breaks

While we don’t provide snacks, some teams coordinate post-game treats. Feel free to bring water, fruit, or light snacks for your athlete to refuel.
